Following an extensive election campaign in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has now turned his attention toward Punjab. According to sources, with the upcoming assembly elections in view, he has decided to place his full focus on “Mission Punjab.” It is reported that he will now visit Punjab every month until the elections take place.
This time around, the issue of drugs is set to become the central focus of the BJP’s strategy. According to reports, a major campaign against drugs will be launched in Punjab starting in May, spearheaded personally by Amit Shah. As part of this initiative, rallies and tours will be organized across the entire state, with senior party leaders joining in periodically.
Political sources suggest that while the party is already in power in other states—such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur—it still needs to consolidate its position in Punjab. Consequently, this campaign is being viewed as a crucial component of the party’s electoral strategy.
Party leaders assert that this drive against drugs is not merely a political maneuver, but rather a significant step toward bringing about social change. The BJP states that, under Amit Shah’s leadership, a comprehensive roadmap will be formulated to make Punjab a drug-free state. It is widely anticipated that the political landscape in Punjab is set to heat up significantly in the coming months, as political parties go head-to-head over key issues such as drugs, law and order, and development.
