Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain announced on Saturday that special camps will be organized at all polling booths across the district on June 7 to facilitate the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter mapping process. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at their respective booths to assist citizens in verifying their Voter ID details and resolving any related issues.
Presiding over a review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration has achieved a voter mapping target of 74.46 percent under the pre-SIR exercise initiated by the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab. He explained that, as part of this ongoing exercise, voters listed in the current voter roll are being cross-referenced with those recorded in the 2003 voter list. DC Jain noted that Ludhiana district currently has 2,690,839 registered voters, of whom 2,003,539 have already been successfully mapped by BLOs.
While directing all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to complete the remaining pre-SIR voter mapping work within the stipulated timeframe, Jain emphasized the strict adherence to guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. He appealed to voters to extend their full cooperation to the BLOs—who are conducting door-to-door visits as part of this exercise—and to provide the necessary documents to facilitate the accurate verification and mapping of electoral records.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that voters can search for their details in the 2003 voter list via the Election Commission of India’s ECINET portal or through the online search facility provided by the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab. For any information, suggestions, or grievances related to the voter verification process, citizens may also contact the Voter Helpline by dialing the toll-free number 1950. Those present at the meeting included GLADA Chief Administrator Ojasvi Alankar; Additional Deputy Commissioners Poonam Singh, Amit Bambi, and Dr. Narinder Singh Dhaliwal; SDMs Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, Upinderjit Kaur Brar, Preet Inder Bains, and Khushpreet Singh; Estate Officer Aman Gupta; Joint Commissioners Vineet Kumar and Tapan Bhanot; and heads of various departments.
