Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss issues concerning the state’s law and order situation, the growing drug trade, and security in border areas. The meeting involved detailed deliberations on the current situation in Punjab and the prevailing security challenges.
Dhillon apprised the Home Minister of issues such as the spread of drugs in Punjab, gangster activities, cross-border smuggling of narcotics and weapons, and matters related to the state’s internal security. He emphasized that, as a border state, Punjab’s security is crucial from a national perspective, necessitating effective measures in this regard.
During the meeting, Kewal Singh Dhillon presented Union Home Minister Amit Shah with a book and a portrait of ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The BJP described this gesture as a mark of respect for Punjab’s historical heritage and glorious past. According to party leaders, Maharaja Ranjit Singh stands as a symbol of Punjab’s unity, valor, and self-respect.
Following the meeting, Kewal Singh Dhillon stated that he had apprised the Home Minister of the ground realities in Punjab. He noted that the drug problem in the state has assumed serious proportions, with the youth bearing the brunt of it. He also highlighted public concern regarding the law and order situation.
He urged the central government to provide continued support for Punjab’s security and development. Dhillon alleged that the state’s AAP government has failed to live up to the people’s expectations. He affirmed that the BJP would continue to raise Punjab-related issues at the national level and prominently present matters concerning the public before the central government.
