Work on updating the voter list is proceeding rapidly in Punjab under the Special Intensive Revision campaign. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has stated that the mapping of approximately 90 percent of voters in the state has been completed, while the remaining work is continuing on a war footing and will be finished soon. He affirmed that the state government would ensure no eligible voter is deprived of their democratic right.
Speaking to reporters in Sangrur after filling out his form as part of the special intensive revision process, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is fully vigilant regarding this initiative led by the Election Commission of India. He assured that the government would not allow the name of any genuine and eligible voter to be illegally removed from the electoral roll.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the strength of democracy relies on the participation of every eligible voter. Therefore, all citizens should actively participate in this process and submit their forms within the stipulated timeframe. He noted that an accurate and transparent voter list is crucial for the democratic system.
**Urged timely submission of forms**
He cautioned the public that only the names of voters who have correctly filled out and submitted their forms in accordance with the prescribed procedure would be included in the draft electoral roll. If an eligible voter fails to submit the form, their name will not be included in the draft list; hence, any negligence in this regard should be avoided.
The Chief Minister explained that under the Special Intensive Revision-2026, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been conducting door-to-door visits from June 25 to July 24 to verify voters, cross-check information, and make necessary corrections. The objective of this campaign is to make the voter list more accurate, up-to-date, and error-free.
He described the progress achieved so far as satisfactory, noting that the completion of approximately 90 percent of the mapping reflects the campaign’s success. The remaining work is also being expedited to ensure the entire process is concluded within the set deadline. The Chief Minister once again appealed to all eligible voters to cooperate with their Booth Level Officers, provide the necessary documents, and submit their forms in time so that their names could be included in the final electoral roll and they could exercise their right to vote.
