3 students of Panjab University performed brilliantly with 5000 people in the Republic Day Parade and became a part of the Guinness World Record. This was the first time for these students studying in PU in Chandigarh, when they thought of being a part of this parade and they did not know that they would also become a part of this record.
A proud moment for Panjab University, when three students represented the state of Punjab in the Republic Day Parade held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. The event titled “Jayanti Jai Mam Bharatam 2025” saw more than 5000 artists from across the country performing 29 folk and 22 tribal dance forms, which created a Limca record for the performance. These 5000 people were from all over India, some of them came from tribal areas as well.
The participants mesmerized the audience with their colorful costumes, energetic postures and rhythmic beats, celebrating the diverse cultural heritage of India. This performance also achieved a Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people in the largest folk dance performance”, which was a historic moment for the country.
Who are the three students?
Among the participants were Arshi Paruthi from Chandigarh (second year economics), Shruti Garg from Mansa (centre of social work), and Kaifi Chhabra from Gidderbaha (first year maths student). The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the National School of Drama.
