The hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on the Khanauri border of Punjab and Haryana has entered the 66th day today (30 January). Now his health is improving. The bhog of Shri Akhand Path Sahib, kept for the success of the Morcha, will be offered today. On this occasion, a large number of people are reaching the Morcha.
This morning, a group of hundreds of tractor trolleys left from Beas for Shambhu border from Amritsar. The group of farmers reached Phagwara at around 10.15 am. After this, by around 11.30 am, they had come to Ludhiana. The convoy of farmers reached Rajpura at around 1.15 pm. The press will be talked to at around quarter to three.
Earlier on Wednesday, while hearing a petition, the Supreme Court had said that Dallewal has decided to talk to the committee formed by the government.
In such a situation, let him talk. Why do you want the Supreme Court to give orders in the middle of the talks? At the same time, now the hearing will be held at the end of this month.
Asked officials to attend the meeting
Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad said that today the central government officials from Chandigarh had reached the front to know the condition of Jagjit Singh Dallewal. He also requested him to take care of his health and definitely attend the meeting with the central government.
However, Dallewal had said in a message to the public two days ago that everyone wants him to attend the meeting with the central government, but his health is not allowing it right now. He had invited everyone to attend the Mahapanchayat to be held on February 12.
This is how the Amritsar group will reach Shambhu
At the same time, a convoy of hundreds of farmers’ tractors has left for Shambhu from Amritsar today. This convoy will reach Phagwara at around 10 o’clock. After this, the convoy will reach Shambhu via Ludhiana and Rajpura. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher himself is included in this convoy.
At the same time, leaders of many organizations including BKU Doaba joined from Phagwara and Ludhiana. They say that we have taken this step under compulsion. Now we are not going to back down.
What has happened in the farmers’ movement so far?
On February 13 last year, farmers started their movement with 13 demands including MSP of crops. Because at that time Lok Sabha elections were to be held. In such a situation, the central government showed readiness in the beginning. Along with this, senior leaders including the then Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda were sent to Chandigarh.
Along with this, a meeting was held with farmer leaders in Sector-26. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was also present in these meetings. This meeting continued till 2 o’clock late night, but when the farmers were not heard, they decided to go to Delhi.
But the Haryana government stopped the farmers at the border by putting up barricades. Also argued that the farmers have modified their tractors. If the farmers come forward, the atmosphere of the state will deteriorate. During this, young farmer Shubhkaran Singh died in a clash between police and farmers at Khanauri border. However, when the farmers stopped there, the connection between Punjab and Haryana was cut off from both those routes. Due to this, the businessmen started incurring losses.
The matter reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. On July 10, the High Court ordered the Haryana government to open the barricades, then the government went to the Supreme Court. After that the Supreme Court constituted a high power committee in this matter. Then from November 26, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal started a hunger strike. Also decided not to take any kind of medical facility.
But as soon as the struggle completed 50 days, the central government officials reached Khanauri border. They invited the farmers for a meeting. After this, Dallewal decided to continue the hunger strike and take medical facility. Also, on January 26, a tractor march was taken out across the country.
