On Monday night around 8 o’clock, near Sector-4 Petrol Pump, on the single road of Sector-4/9, Chandigarh, a high speed Porsche rider came on the wrong side and hit the Activa driver from the front. In the accident, the young man driving the Activa died on the spot. His body was cut into two pieces. The collision was so strong that the Activa was shattered.
Even after this, the Porsche driver did not stop. He also hit two girls going on an Activa, who got injured. Then the Porsche rider hit the street pole and sign board on the cycle track. Due to this, the bumper of the Porsche got bent and it stopped. The Porsche rider has been identified as Sanjeev Bhabhota (43), a resident of Panchkula.
The body of the deceased was cut into two pieces
The Porsche rider was going towards Heera Chowk. He hit Ankit (26) going on an Activa. Ankit was a resident of Nayagaon. Ankit got stuck under the Porsche along with the Activa and one of his legs got separated. The Activa was shattered into pieces on the road.
After this, the Porsche driver hit the pole and the upper part of Ankit’s waist hit the windshield. The police have collected the body and kept it in the GNSH mortuary. Meanwhile, Nayagaon resident Soni and her cousin Gurleen, who were riding on another Activa, also came under the Porsche. Gurleen has been referred to PGI.
Eyewitness said – Porsche suddenly changed lanes
Injured Soni in GMSH-16 said that she was going to Nayagaon on Activa with her cousin Gurleen, who lives in Sector-20. At the same time, a Porsche (CH01CQ-0146) was seen coming at a high speed from the front.
Soni said – Ahead of us, a young man (Ankit) was going in his lane on Activa. Suddenly the Porsche driver cut and came in our lane from the front. Due to the collision, the young man got stuck under the vehicle along with the Activa. After that, our Activa was hit, so I fell on the other side. When I regained consciousness, I saw that the cut part of the young man below his waist was lying on one side.
The deceased’s cousin said – could not identify
On the other hand, deceased Ankit’s cousin Ankush said that he had passed by the spot after the accident. He saw someone’s body lying there, but he could not identify. After some time, when he got a call from home, he came to know that the body was of Ankit.
The accused was not getting out of the car, the police pulled him out
In the accident, pieces of Ankit’s jeans were scattered everywhere. One shoe was lying under the car and the other near the Activa. Ankit’s head later hit the glass of the car, due to which the hair on his head was stuck between the broken glass of the car.
The police has told that the PCR personnel kept telling the accused car driver Sanjeev to get out, but he did not come out. After a lot of effort, he was pulled out and taken to the police station.
Police say that his urine and blood samples have been taken to detect his drug addiction. He is a property dealer. Police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him.
