A scientist lost his life in a fight over parking in Sector 66 of Mohali, Punjab. 39-year-old Abhishek Swarnkar, who worked at IISER, died in this incident on Tuesday night. Abhishek was a resident of Jharkhand. He had returned to India from abroad due to health reasons. He had recently undergone a kidney transplant. He was also on dialysis. One of his two married sisters donated a kidney to him. Abhishek lived with his elderly parents in a rented house in Mohali. His family has accused neighbor Monty of attacking Abhishek.

Monty is an IT professional. The family says that Monty knew about Abhishek’s fragile health, yet he attacked him. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. According to the police, the argument started around 8:30 pm and soon it escalated to a scuffle. Eyewitnesses said that Monty first abused Abhishek. Then he threw him on the ground and punched him repeatedly. Roma, a tenant living in the area, said that I heard loud screams and ran outside. I saw that Monty was attacking Abhishek.
Several punches on the chest
She further said that when Abhishek fell on the ground, Monty was repeatedly punching him in the chest. When Abhishek fainted, Monty panicked and took him to the hospital. Monty also collided with a car on the way to a private hospital. Doctors declared Abhishek dead. Police station in-charge Gagandeep Singh said on Wednesday that a case has been registered after the family’s complaint. He said that the post-mortem will be done on Thursday. After this, appropriate legal action will be taken.
