Chandigarh Police Administration has issued instructions to all police personnel to donate one day’s salary for the financial assistance of the families of Constable Sukhdarshan and Home Guard volunteer Rajesh who lost their lives in a road accident. However, many jawans have expressed displeasure over this decision and raised the question that why such financial help was not given to the families of policemen who lost their lives in accidents before.
Rules should be equal for all
A letter is going viral in the Chandigarh Police group, in which it is written, “It is requested that I do not agree with the message that has been put up to deduct one day’s salary. Because earlier also many employees died on duty, in those cases such a policy has not been made. Please make a similar policy for all. I have no objection to the earlier talk about deducting Rs 500 each.” Those who do not want to give, should register their objection
On March 14, Constable Sukhdarshan and Home Guard volunteer Rajesh, who were on duty, died in a road accident at Chandigarh/Zirakpur barrier. After this incident, the Chandigarh Police Department appealed to all the employees to contribute.
The order said that this amount will be given to the victim’s family under the Police Welfare Fund. It has also been said that if someone does not want the money to be deducted, then there is no compulsion on him. He can register his objection to the officer of his concerned department.
300 rupees are deducted every month
Police personnel say that every month 300 rupees are deducted from their salary for the welfare fund. In such a situation, why is there pressure to give an additional one day’s salary? They say that if financial assistance is necessary, then it should be applicable in all such cases, not just in selected cases.
Jawans expressed their displeasure in the WhatsApp group
After this order, the jawans expressed their displeasure in the police WhatsApp group and said that when policemen have lost their lives in different accidents earlier, then why was financial help not given to their families? Some jawans questioned this order and said that if someone does not want to donate, then money should not be forcibly taken from him.
