The state government has sent the file to the central government to give extension to Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. Anurag Rastogi is retiring on 30 June. Like the Chief Secretaries of Himachal Pradesh and Odisha, the Chief Secretary of Haryana is also likely to get a six-month extension.
In case he gets a six-month extension, his tenure will end on 31 December. Before this period, the claims of three IAS officers who are contenders for the post of Chief Secretary on the basis of seniority may be adversely affected.
If Anurag Rastogi gets an extension, the biggest impact will be on 1990 batch IAS officer Anand Mohan Sharan, who is the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Animal Conservation and Environment. His retirement is on 31 August this year. The other strong contenders for the post of Chief Secretary are 1990 batch IAS officers Sudhir Rajpal and Dr. Sumita Mishra.
Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Women and Child Development Department Sudhir Rajpal will retire on 30 November 2026.
If Anurag Rastogi gets an extension of service of only six months and the government does not give him extension again after the completion of this period, then only Sudhir Rajpal’s possibility of becoming Chief Secretary will remain. Similarly, 1990 batch IAS Dr. Sumita Mishra, who is in the race for the post of Chief Secretary, will retire on 31 January 2027.
In case of extension of service of Anurag Rastogi, he may have to wait a long time for the Chief Secretary.
