The body of a young man was recovered under suspicious circumstances at the cremation ground in Ghorawahi village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Lahadda. Upon seeing the body at the cremation ground, people were terrified, and they immediately reported the incident to the Bhogpur police station. Police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody, and began further investigation. The deceased has been identified as Harmandeep alias Humu, son of Kailo Ram.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the deceased’s family member, Pyara, stated that Harmandeep alias Humu had left home the previous evening. The family alleges that villagers were searching for Humu with a sharp weapon, after which Humu did not return until late at night. The next day, someone discovered Humu’s body lying in the cremation ground. Upon visiting the cremation ground, they discovered several wounds on Humu’s body, consistent with sharp weapons. They suspect that the deceased, Humu, was murdered, as there are numerous injury marks on his body.
Staff at the Lahadda police post have taken the deceased’s body into custody and sent it to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, for a post-mortem examination. Police have recorded statements from the deceased’s family and have initiated further proceedings. Meanwhile, SHO of Bhogpur police station, Rajesh Kumar Arora, stated that according to villagers, the deceased was mentally unstable. Police are currently taking action under Section 174 of the IPC.
