Horrific Accident on National Highway: Motorcyclist Dies Tragically at the Scene

Date:

A tragic road accident occurred this morning near Roshanwala village on the Bathinda-Chandigarh National Highway, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. According to reports, the deceased individual was attempting to cross the highway through an unauthorized opening in the divider when he was struck with great force by a speeding PRTC bus. The collision was so severe that the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries on the spot. ASI Harbans Singh of the Road Safety Force (SSF), who was present at the accident site, stated that his team arrived at the scene immediately upon receiving information about the incident. The police have taken custody of the body and have initiated further legal proceedings.

ASI Harbans Singh identified the deceased as Gurmeet Singh, son of Karnail Singh, a resident of Ghumand Singh Wala village. Gurmeet was attempting to cross the highway near Roshanwala village using a gap in the divider—created illegally by locals as a shortcut—when the accident occurred. At that moment, a PRTC bus traveling from Sangrur towards Patiala collided violently with his motorcycle. Gurmeet Singh, the motorcyclist, died instantly after being struck by the bus.

Meanwhile, local residents allege that this is not the only unauthorized opening created by the public by breaking the highway divider; rather, numerous such illegal cuts exist at various points along the highway and have previously been the cause of several accidents. However, they claim that the administration has failed to take any concrete measures to seal these illegal openings. The residents have demanded that these dangerous cuts be closed immediately to ensure that no one else loses their life in such accidents in the future.
