A Special CBI Court in Mohali has declared Baba Thakur Dilip Singh—an accused belonging to the Namdhari sect who had been absconding for a long time—a fugitive in connection with the high-profile car bomb blast case of 2015. The court had granted the accused multiple opportunities to appear; however, this decision was taken after he failed to present himself within the stipulated timeframe.
According to investigative agencies, the accused fled the country and went abroad following the incident, prompting authorities to expand the search for him from a national to an international level. The Public Prosecutor stated that, despite the issuance of a Red Corner Notice through Interpol in this regard, the accused’s whereabouts could not be ascertained. The trial of the case was also being hampered due to the accused’s absence. Consequently, having completed all requisite legal formalities—including public proclamations—the court has declared him a fugitive, thereby paving the way for further legal action.
According to Public Prosecutor Anmol Narang, Thakur Dilip Singh was named as an accused in the car bomb blast case that occurred on December 4, 2015. He had absconded while the investigation was still underway.
