Prof. Sikander Kumar, a prominent leader from Himachal Pradesh and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, has been unanimously appointed as the new Chairman of the Grappling Federation of India (GFI). Subodh Kumar Yadav, the General Secretary of the Grappling Federation of India, issued an official letter inviting Prof. Kumar to assume this prestigious and advisory role. Prof. Sikander Kumar is not only an experienced politician but also possesses extensive experience in the fields of education and administration. Sports experts believe that his association with the federation will lead to increased government support; furthermore, leveraging his influence as an MP, it is expected that Grappling will secure a more prominent position within government policies and budgetary allocations. This move is expected to boost the morale of athletes and pave the way for national-level competitors to access better facilities and infrastructure. In his capacity as Chairman, he will provide strategic guidance to the federation, thereby enabling Indian athletes to win more medals in international tournaments.
