The Mansa Police successfully cracked a kidnapping case within just a few hours and apprehended the accused. SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena stated that the Mansa PCR unit received information that Sandeep Singh (26), son of Raj Singh—a resident of Malkpur Khyala—had been abducted by unidentified individuals from Tibba Khyala Road, near the RTO office. At the time of the abduction, Sandeep was in possession of ₹2,50,000 in cash and a motorcycle.
Acting on this information, a case was registered at the Sadar Police Station. Under the supervision of Manmohan Singh Aulakh, SP (Investigation), Mansa, and Buta Singh, DSP (Sub-division), Mansa, a police team—led by Bhupinderjit Singh, SHO of Sadar Police Station, and Makkan Singh, In-charge of the Thuthianwali Police Post (including SHO Om Prakash)—immediately rushed to the scene. Subsequently, three suspects were taken into custody and interrogated. They were identified as Sandeep Singh (a resident of Malkpur), Kesar Singh alias Lali (a resident of Malkpur), and Sukhchain Singh (a resident of Khyala Kalan).
Sandeep Singh revealed that his sister had transferred ₹5 lakh from Canada into his bank account, which he subsequently withdrew from the bank in the company of his friend, Kesar Singh. Kesar Singh informed him that he knew some individuals—residents of Bathinda—who possessed the ability to “double” money. Following this, the entire group proceeded to Kesar Singh’s residence. There, under the pretext of doubling the money, the individuals from Bathinda took ₹10,000 in cash and staged a scenario claiming that the remaining ₹2,50,000 had been destroyed in a fire. During the course of the investigation, the police recovered ₹2,30,000 in cash and a motorcycle from the accused. Of the remaining ₹20,000, a portion had already been spent by the accused, while the rest was taken by the individual from Bathinda—who identified himself as “Goldy”—before he fled the scene. During interrogation, the accused admitted that they had deliberately fabricated a false kidnapping story in a planned manner to conceal ₹250,000 and to spend the remaining funds to satisfy their drug habits. Sandeep Singh, in collusion with his accomplices, informed his mother of a staged kidnapping and robbery; subsequently, his father, Raj Singh, called the emergency number 112 to register a formal complaint.
