The Ghubaya police, stationed in a village near Jalalabad, have recovered a packet of heroin from a wheat field located in the India-Pakistan border region. This heroin was sent from Pakistan to India via a drone. Notably, the police and the BSF recovered this consignment during a joint operation.
The police have registered a case regarding the matter and have initiated an investigation. The recovered heroin is reported to weigh approximately 520 grams. Providing details, Gurnam Singh, the In-charge of the Ghubaya Police Post, stated that they had received intelligence indicating that a suspicious object was lying in a field within the area situated between Chak Bajida and Dhani Mangh Singh.
Heroin Recovered from Wheat Field
The suspicious object was spotted in the field while farmers were processing the wheat stubble—the residue left after the harvest—into fodder (known locally as *turi*). Following this sighting, the police, in collaboration with the BSF, jointly cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation. During this operation, the packet of heroin was recovered from land belonging to a farmer named Jaswant Singh. Gurnam Singh stated that it is suspected that this consignment of heroin was sent from Pakistan to India using a drone. The police have currently taken the packet of heroin into their custody and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
