Under a special drive launched against anti-social elements—led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Sandeep Kumar—the Khanna Sadar Police have achieved a significant success. During a police blockade (Naka), they apprehended two accused individuals involved in committing robberies and recovered a stolen motorcycle, a country-made pistol (.315 bore), and two live cartridges from their possession. The accused were subsequently identified as Deepak Shah, son of Sita Ram (resident of Mohalla Dharampura, behind Khalsa Petrol Pump, Khanna), and Prem Nath, son of Dharamraj Chauhan (resident near Bhuton Wala Gurudwara, Khanna, District Ludhiana).
Providing details regarding this operation, DSP Khanna, Mr. Vinod Kumar, stated that this action was executed under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna, Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, and in accordance with the directives issued by the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, and the DIG Ludhiana Range, Satinder Singh. During this operation, a joint team—led by Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Pawanjeet Chaudhary and comprising DSP Vinod Kumar, DSP (D) Mohit Kumar Singla, and the SHO of Khanna Sadar Police Station, Inspector Sandeep Kumar—carried out the coordinated action.
DSP Vinod Kumar explained that on April 19, ASI Karamjit Singh, along with a police party, was patrolling the area and checking for suspicious individuals. During this time, near the Sua Puli at Majri (Rasulra), an informer provided a tip-off that two individuals were approaching on a stolen motorcycle with the intent to commit acts of theft and robbery, and that they were also in possession of weapons.
Acting swiftly, the police immediately set up a blockade and apprehended both suspects. Subsequent preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused—Deepak Shah and Prem Nath—revealed that for a considerable period, both individuals had been actively committing thefts and robberies across various areas, including Khanna, Doraha, Samrala, as well as parts of Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib. They would intimidate shopkeepers and elderly citizens by brandishing weapons, thereby robbing them of cash and mobile phones. According to the police, multiple cases have previously been registered against the accused at the City-1, City-2, and Sadar Khanna police stations. These accused individuals had also snatched a motorcycle—bearing registration number MH-31-BJ-9043—from the Sahnewal area, which has since been recovered. The police have registered a case against the accused under FIR No. 102, dated April 19, 2026, invoking Sections 309(4) and 111(2) of the BNS, as well as Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act, and have initiated an investigation. Both accused individuals will be produced before the court to seek police remand, thereby facilitating further significant revelations. The Khanna Police have clarified that this campaign against criminal elements within the district will continue in the days to come.
