Haryana Government Makes Announcement
While, on one hand, traders in Amritsar’s wholesale markets for dry fruits and groceries (Majith Mandi and Dhab Basti Ram) are migrating due to flawed government policies, the BJP-ruled Haryana government is, on the other hand, allocating over 250 shops to dry fruit, grocery, and electrical traders from Amritsar and Delhi—facilities where these merchants will enjoy every conceivable amenity. According to reports, Anil Mehra—Vice President of the BJP Trade Cell (Punjab) and President of the Federation of Kirana and Dry Fruit Commercial Associations—met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, accompanied by BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh. During this meeting, they apprised the Chief Minister of the various challenges currently being faced by the trading community. Following this discussion, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the allocation of shops in Haryana to dry fruit and grocery traders from Amritsar. Formal approval for this initiative has also been officially issued by the HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation).
Infrastructure to be Provided Across Over 300 Acres of Land
The Haryana government is providing infrastructure for traders across a sprawling area of over 300 acres. In addition to the traders’ shops, this facility will feature residential quarters for the workforce, dining halls, security personnel, and a comprehensive range of modern amenities.
