Major news is emerging from the political landscape of Punjab. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new President of the Punjab BJP unit. The party’s high command has officially ratified his appointment.
Considered a close associate of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Kewal Singh Dhillon has emerged as the party’s new choice, representing a prominent Jat Sikh face. Meanwhile, the three-year tenure of the incumbent President, Sunil Jakhar, is set to conclude in July. According to sources, Sunil Jakhar will continue to play a pivotal role in the party’s campaign strategy for the 2027 Assembly elections.
It is reported that BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh had also long been advocating for the appointment of a Sikh leader as the state unit chief in Punjab. It is believed that the party has taken this significant decision as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen its organizational structure within Punjab and to deepen its outreach and influence within the Sikh community.
