A tragic development has emerged in the case of 27-year-old Vicky Kumar, who drowned in a canal under suspicious circumstances in the city’s Dehlon area two days ago. Divers, who had been scouring the canal for two days, finally recovered Vicky’s body today. The police immediately took possession of the body and sent it to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem. While the recovery of Vicky’s body has plunged the entire area into mourning—leaving his mother inconsolable—the grieving family remains adamant that this was not an accident but a murder resulting from a sinister, pre-planned conspiracy hatched by his friends. Meanwhile, senior police officials stated that the body has been secured and placed in the Civil Hospital’s mortuary.
Only after a medical board conducts the post-mortem will it become clear whether Vicky died from water filling his lungs or if he had sustained injuries prior to drowning. The police claim that the friends accused of murder by the victim’s family are being rounded up for questioning. Strict legal action will be taken against the guilty based on the medical report and the facts revealed during the thorough investigation.
According to available information, the missing Vicky Kumar (27) was the sole support for his impoverished family, earning a living through manual labor. Last Wednesday, around 2 PM, he had returned home after taking a break from work. He asked his mother, Poonam Devi, for ₹100, but when she refused, he took the money from his father instead. Before leaving, he promised his mother he was going to a swimming pool with friends and would return within an hour. Little did anyone know that this promise to his mother would be his last and that Vicky would never return home alive. Friends lured him to a canal 12 km away under the pretext of a swimming pool visit
In this chilling case, another friend who was with Vicky just before the incident has come forward to make some shocking revelations. The eyewitness friend stated that the group had gathered between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM on Wednesday. Initially, the plan was to visit a swimming pool, but en route, Lucky and six other companions abruptly changed their plans as part of a premeditated conspiracy. They forced Vicky to accompany them to the ‘Dehlon Wala Sua’ (canal), located 12 kilometers away. The friend who made these revelations explained that he did not know how to swim, so he did not go with them and returned home instead. The other boys then took Vicky to the canal, where they consumed a significant amount of alcohol before entering the water to bathe; it was then that Vicky drowned in the deep water. Accused friend’s phone switched off; suspicion deepens
A major twist in the case emerged when the eyewitness friend revealed that around 10:00 PM that same night, he called Lucky. Lucky sounded extremely agitated and, speaking in a trembling voice, told him, “Don’t go anywhere; I’ll tell you everything later.” Since the morning following this alarming conversation, the main accused Lucky’s phone has remained switched off—a fact that turned the family’s suspicions into a firm belief that a sinister act had been committed against Vicky in the water.
