In a major operation today, the Food Safety team raided a suspected paneer supply unit operating from a rented house in village Mahmoodpura on Dugri Road. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur and led by District Health Officer Dr. Ashish Chawla. During the inspection, the team discovered that the individual involved was supplying paneer at a rate of approximately ₹230 per kilogram from the rented premises.
The Food Safety team seized around 180 kilograms of paneer from the site. Samples were collected following prescribed procedures to assess the quality and safety of the paneer and will be sent to the government food testing laboratory for analysis. Dr. Ashish Chawla stated that if the laboratory report reveals that the paneer does not meet prescribed standards, strict legal action will be taken against the individual under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. He added, “Strict action will continue against those involved in adulteration, illegal preparation of food products, or unauthorized supply. Such drives to safeguard consumer health will be conducted regularly in the future as well.”
The Food Safety Department has appealed to the public to purchase food products only from authorized and reliable sources and to immediately report any suspicious food-related activities to the department.
