Villagers staged a protest today in Boothgarh village—falling under the jurisdiction of the Meharban police station—to express their outrage against the sand mafia. During the protest, Village Sarpanch Tajparminder Singh Sonu stated that for several months, they have been repeatedly lodging complaints with the Deputy Commissioner and Mining Department officials, urging them to halt the movement of overloaded tippers and tractor-trolleys carrying sand through the village; however, their grievances have gone unheeded. He explained that the passage of these overloaded vehicles has severely damaged the village road and caused cracks to appear in several houses. He declared that the protest would continue until the movement of these overloaded tippers and tractor-trolleys through the village is stopped. He further stated that the district administration would be held responsible for any harm or damage caused to anyone.
