Jalandhar residents struggle with humid, sticky heat; weather likely to change soon

Date:

Despite the maximum temperature remaining within the normal range, residents of the city were troubled by humid heat. According to the Meteorological Department, Jalandhar recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C and a minimum of 26°C. Although the temperature was normal, high atmospheric humidity levels caused increased mugginess, forcing people to endure sticky heat throughout the day.

From the morning onwards, the city witnessed a game of hide-and-seek between the clouds and the sun. While cloudy spells offered a glimmer of hope for relief, periods of intense sunshine intensified the heat. High humidity prevented sweat from evaporating quickly, causing people to feel more uncomfortable than usual. In markets, bus stands, and other public places, people sought relief from the heat by consuming cold drinks and finding shaded areas.

Traffic on the roads appeared relatively sparse during the afternoon. The elderly, children, and daily-wage laborers, in particular, faced significant discomfort due to the humidity. Residents in several areas noted that even though the temperature wasn’t excessively high, the moisture in the air made the heat feel much more intense.

Weather experts believe that rainfall could bring a drop in temperature and relief from the humidity. City residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during the afternoon and to consume plenty of water and other fluids. According to the Meteorological Department, a change in the weather is likely over the coming days, offering hope for relief from the heat.
