The Vigilance Bureau has registered 1,055 cases as part of a massive crackdown over the last four years. A total of 1,111 accused individuals were arrested during the campaign spanning from March 16, 2022, to May 31, 2026. According to the Bureau, continuous raids, investigations, and legal actions regarding corruption-related matters were conducted during this period, aiming to enhance accountability within the government machinery.
An official spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau stated on Saturday that the highest volume of action involved “trap cases.” The Bureau arrested 610 accused individuals red-handed across 503 trap cases—instances where officials and employees were caught accepting bribes. 485 Accused Arrested
Additionally, 485 accused individuals were arrested in 521 criminal cases, while 16 people were arrested in 31 cases involving disproportionate assets. The Bureau emphasizes that, alongside arrests, special focus was placed on financial investigations to dismantle major corruption networks. Statistics show that a total of 296 vigilance inquiries were registered during this period; of these, 116 inquiries related to disproportionate assets, while investigations were initiated in 180 other cases.
236 Convicted
Officials state that investigations are ongoing in several cases, and further significant action is likely in the near future. The Vigilance Bureau has also achieved success on the legal front; competent courts have convicted and sentenced 236 accused individuals across 149 corruption cases. The Bureau asserts that these convictions have sent a strong message against corruption.
