After the first installment under the ‘Mava Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ reached women’s bank accounts, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued a video message urging the state’s women to actively participate in the special revision drive for the electoral roll. The Chief Minister stated that the government has fulfilled its promise by transferring the scheme’s funds to the beneficiaries’ accounts.
It is now the responsibility of women to ensure their names are on the voter list by filling out the special revision form in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines. Mann stated that if an eligible woman fails to fill out the SIR form and her name is removed from the voter list, she may face difficulties in availing the benefits of government schemes—including the ‘Mava Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’—in the future. He urged all women to fill out the form in a timely manner and seek assistance from local volunteers if needed.
**Special revision process for the electoral roll underway**
The Chief Minister’s message comes at a time when the special revision process for the electoral roll is ongoing in the state. The government has also made efforts to reach the scheme’s beneficiaries with information about this drive. In the video, the Chief Minister told women that securing their vote is just as important as availing the benefits of government schemes. It is noteworthy that the ‘Mava Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ was launched on July 1 from Dhuri in Sangrur. Under the scheme, a first installment of ₹3,000 was transferred to the accounts of women from the general category, and ₹4,500 to the accounts of women from the Scheduled Caste category. So far, over 36 lakh women have registered for the scheme.
**97 percent of women covered under the scheme**
According to the government, women who applied by June 25 have already received the amount for three months in advance, whereas for those who registered after June 25, the funds for July, August, and September will be released together starting August 1. The government has also clarified that women receiving old-age, widow, or disability pensions will continue to avail the benefits of this scheme. The Punjab government claims that approximately 97 percent of women will be covered under this scheme, for which a budgetary provision of ₹9,300 crore has been made. Following the release of the scheme’s first installment, the Chief Minister is now focusing on linking women with the SIR campaign and ensuring that the names of the maximum number of eligible women are included in the electoral rolls.
