Extensive awareness programs are being conducted across the city as part of the ‘War Against Drugs’—a special campaign launched by the Commissionerate Police with the resolve to make Punjab completely drug-free. As part of this initiative, police teams from various local stations organized special seminars within their respective jurisdictions.
The primary objective of these seminars was to keep the youth and general public away from the quagmire of drug abuse and to raise societal awareness regarding this grave menace. Similarly, the police from Police Station Division No. 4 conducted an awareness drive in Manna Singh Nagar. During the event, SHO Harpal Singh engaged directly with the public and the youth. He explained in detail how drug abuse not only erodes a person’s physical and mental health but also financially and socially ruins the entire family. Young people were encouraged to focus on sports and education and to steer clear of bad company.
SHO Harpal Singh emphasized that while legal action against drug traffickers is essential, public awareness is equally crucial. Attendees were urged to report any instances of drug peddling or trafficking in their neighborhoods to the police immediately and without fear; the identity of the informant would be kept strictly confidential. Police officials reiterated the Commissionerate Police’s firm commitment to making the city drug-free and safe, affirming that this campaign would continue unabated.
