The department has intensified its crackdown on fraudsters who register bogus firms in the city by creating fake documents and deceiving the Excise Department. In this ongoing effort, a thorough investigation by the ‘Office of the Assistant Commissioner, State Tax’ (Ludhiana) has exposed yet another fake firm operating in the Tibba Road area. The accused had illegally obtained a GST number by presenting false and fabricated facts to the tax authorities as part of a premeditated scheme. Following a written complaint from senior department officials, the police have registered a serious case of fraud against the accused and initiated further action.
According to information provided by the department, this new case was registered based on complaint number 1476/PC (dated 06.06.2026) received from the office of the Assistant Commissioner, State Tax, Ludhiana. The department’s investigation revealed that the accused had claimed to operate a factory at an address in Gurmel Park, Tibba Road (Ludhiana), and had obtained the GSTIN (03NQEPK3150A1ZC) in its name.
When a special team from the Excise Department conducted an in-depth probe into the firm and the address, the details of the fraud came to light. The investigation uncovered the shocking truth that the said GST registration had been obtained entirely through deceit and manipulation. The accused had presented grossly incorrect and distorted facts to the registration authority and secured the tax number using completely fabricated documents. The primary motive behind this fraud was to evade taxes and cause financial loss to the government. Following prompt action by tax officials, the police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the owner of this bogus firm and other unscrupulous individuals involved, and have launched a search for the key masterminds behind the racket.
