Amritsar Police have solved a “blind murder” case and arrested five accused individuals. Additionally, the police have achieved significant success in their ongoing campaigns against drug and weapon smuggling.
SSP Chahal stated that on June 4, 2026, information was received regarding the discovery of a man’s body in the fields of Lakhowal village, under the jurisdiction of the Ajnala Police Station. Upon inspection of the scene, the incident appeared to be a murder, and a case was registered at the Ajnala Police Station. Given the gravity of the matter, special investigation teams were formed under the leadership of DSP Ajnala, Kuldeep Singh, to probe the incident.
During the investigation, it came to light that the deceased’s wife was involved in an illicit relationship with another man. When the deceased learned of this affair, the accused conspired to eliminate him. The police investigation revealed that the crime was executed in a highly planned manner; the victim was murdered first, and his body was subsequently dumped in the fields to make the incident appear like an accident or an unexplained death.
The police have arrested five individuals in connection with the case, including the deceased’s wife. The arrested accused include the wife’s alleged lover, Mangta Singh, as well as Satinder Singh, Jasandeep Singh, and Sarwan Singh. The SSP stated that all the accused were directly involved in the conspiracy, and the police have recovered the weapon used in the murder. The deceased had been married for approximately 10 to 12 years. According to the police, the murder was entirely premeditated.
Furthermore, SSP Chahal announced that the Amritsar Rural Police have achieved another major success under the Punjab government’s campaigns—”War Against Drugs” and “War Against Gangsters.” During a joint operation with central agencies, two grenades were recovered, and two accused individuals were arrested. During the further investigation of the case, teams led by DSP Gurinder Nagra and DSP Yadvinder Singh traced the network’s forward and backward linkages and recovered seven illegal pistols.
They stated that in a separate case, an individual named Gurpreet was booked following the seizure of three kilograms of heroin. The investigation also scrutinized his bank accounts and financial transactions conducted via *hawala* channels. Police inquiries further revealed that narcotics and weapons were being smuggled across the Indian border from Pakistan using drones.
SSP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal stated that the Amritsar Rural Police would continue their crackdown on drug smugglers, gangsters, and anti-social elements. He affirmed that the police are working with full commitment to make Punjab drug-free and crime-free, adding that anyone taking the law into their own hands would not be spared under any circumstances.
