The nomination process for the Mayor election in Chandigarh ended today. BJP and Congress candidates filed nomination papers. On the other hand, Premlata filed her nomination today from Aam Aadmi Party.
Councillor Harpreet Kaur filed her nomination for the post of Mayor from BJP, Lakhvir Singh for Deputy Mayor and Vimla Dubey for Senior Deputy Mayor. While Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have an alliance, due to which Taruna Mehta from Congress filed their nomination for Deputy Mayor and Jasbir Singh Bunty for Senior Deputy Mayor.
Aam Aadmi Party has made Premlata its candidate for Mayor.
Mayor election will be held on 30th January
Mayor elections are to be held on 30th January. Earlier this election was to be held on 24th January, for which nomination was on 20th January. BJP and Congress had also filed their nominations, but in the meantime the High Court had extended the date of election. Due to this, nominations are being done again on Saturday.
BJP said- their party is not able to unite
Mayor Kuldeep Kumar said that this time Aam Aadmi Party will win the mayoral election. AAP’s candidate for the mayoral post Premlata said that if she wins, she will work for Chandigarh and will work with the advice of her junior workers. Congress’ Taruna Mehta said that she is taking it as an opportunity.
While BJP spokesperson Naresh Arora said that AAP is not united. They will have to struggle even for the mayor’s post.
