Punjab Budget 2025-26 postponed till Monday: Speaker denies allegations of MLA Pragat; did not say – drug addiction increased due to protests

The budget session of the Punjab government has been adjourned till 11 am on Monday. Today’s session was full of uproar. Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa walked out over the action of Punjab Police during the farmers’ movement and the attack on the Colonel and his son in Patiala.

MLA Pragat Singh from Jalandhar accused Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and said – Speaker sahab, you also came in one statement. You said that drug addiction has increased due to the protests (of farmers). On this, Speaker Sandhwan got angry and said – You are saying wrong. Show me even one statement of mine like this. Don’t talk without head and legs. The speaker said that I never said that drug addiction has increased due to the protests. I made a mistake that you talk very well. Please sit down.

Bajwa said in Zero Hour – The colonel had gone to have dinner with his son on the 13th. His wife told that 12 police officers came there in civil dress and a dispute arose over parking. During this, the policemen beat up the colonel and removed his turban. The colonel also showed his ID card, but the policemen did not listen.

Pratap Singh Bajwa said that a similar case had come to light in 1992 as well. At that time the Army Command had raised this issue before the Governor. During the investigation it was found that the SSP was at fault, after which he was sent back to the original cadre Punjab. He demanded that Patiala SSP Nanak Singh be removed from there, as he tried to save his employees.

On the other hand, the Mahila Congress started marching towards the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. But they have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police outside the Congress Bhawan. Many Congress leaders including Raja Vading have also been detained. Water cannons were also used on the protesting Congress women workers. In which some women have also been injured.

Bajwa said- Kejriwal came to confirm Rajya Sabha seat

During the session in the assembly, Congress MLAs started raising slogans of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and came out. Coming out, Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa said- Earlier CM Bhagwant Mann himself used to sit on the farmers’ protest, Arvind Kejriwal also kept coming.

People will get RC and DLA in a month

People of Punjab will no longer have to wait for the printing of driving license and RC. Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the printing work has started and the pending cases will be completed in a month.

This question was raised by Punjab Congress CLP leader Pratap Singh Bajwa. He said that this work has been stopped since the month of October, due to which people are facing problems.

Pathankot-Haridwar bus service will start soon

Congress MLA Aruna Chaudhary raised the issue of bus service from Pathankot to Haridwar. She said that earlier a bus used to run on this route, but when she herself took over this department, she ran a bus on this route and also adjusted its timetable from time to time.

But after your government came, it was stopped. She urged that this route should be restored again in view of the religious sentiments of the people. On this, Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that work is going on to restart the bus service.

He said that soon, looking at its practicality, we will try to restore the service. When we get sufficient number of passengers, there will be no problem of expenditure.

How will the work start if money is not received?

Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the work of building Makhu Railway Over Bridge NH-54 has started. It comes under the National Highway Authority of India. The work is about to start. On this, MLA Naresh said that the land which has been acquired.

People have not been given compensation for it. In such a situation, how will the bridge be built? The road is 99 feet. No one is giving the account of the money for 25-25 feet. The minister said that the payment has been made. The work will start as soon as the budget session begins.

No plan to set up a food processing plant

There are white poplar trees in 50 acres of land in Kulla village of Khemarkan assembly constituency. The trees are drying up. It is being eaten up by the dry rot. The MLA of the area has removed those white poplar trees and a food processing plant will be set up there. However, minister Kataruchak said that there is no plan to set up any plant there. There is no vacant space there.

Very good work done in education and health sector

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said that I am happy that I have got the opportunity to address the session. Budget session is very important. It reflects the vision of the government. The discussions held in the session will take Punjab to the peak of progress. My government has started many schemes in the field of health and education. 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics are being run. 2.98 crore people have benefited from them. In this, medicines worth 60 thousand crores and tests worth 100 crores have been done. My government has decided to give medicines for free to all the patients of the hospitals. It is expected that 200 crores will be spent in the next session for medicines.

Three new medical colleges will be built

X-ray and ultra sound facilities are going to be provided in district and sub-division hospitals. In the next 12 months, the people of Punjab will get the benefit of 53 crores for these services. The buildings of the hospitals will be improved in the next three years. 150 crores have been spent for the improvement of 16 hospitals. The governor has listed the names of 16 hospitals and listed the work being done on them. At the same time, Punjab Ayushman and CM Insurance Scheme were started on 19 August. Now 48 lakh cards are active under the scheme. 25.31 patients are being treated. 9 thousand crores have been paid.

Preparations to open one thousand sports nurseries

One thousand medalists will be recruited in sports nurseries. This will create a good environment for the youth. Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan has been told. An amount of 12.96 crores has been provided to the medal winners of international players. Many types of discounts have been given to promote industries in Punjab.

An amount of 810 crores has been released to 770 units in the state. Five thousand 986 investment proposals were received. 3.75 crores have been released for startups. At the same time, industrial plant owners have been given a one-time settlement scheme in two phases. Work is being done to implement the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Work is being done at the rate of 97 percent.

E-buses will run in four cities of Punjab

The government is working to increase the capacity of sewerage treatment. It costs 400 crores. 730 machines have been purchased for 49.55 crores for cleaning sewerage lines. The government will start 347 e-buses. In this, buses will run in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ludhiana. At the same time, electric buses will run in Tricity from Mohali.
