Punjab Budget Session: Chaos on farmers’ issue, Congress MLAs walk out during Governor’s address

Date:

The budget session of the Punjab Assembly (Punjab Budget Session) has started from today. Even before the start of the session (Punjab Assembly Session 2025), the opposition had planned to surround the government, which includes issues like forcibly lifting the Kisan Morcha from Shambhu and Khanori border two days ago and arresting the farmers.

Congress MLAs came wearing black bands on their arms

On the first day of the budget session (Punjab Budget Session 2025), i.e. today, only the Governor’s address was kept. During the Governor’s address, the Congress MLAs came with black bands tied on their arms. In such a situation, when Governor Gulabchand Kataria was reading his address, the leader of the opposition interrupted him and raised slogans against the Punjab government. He was raising slogans in favor of farmers and soldiers.

During this time, the Congress MLAs raised slogans against the government. During this, they also had placards in their hands about the betrayal done with the farmers, which they are waving during the address. After this, the Congress members walked out of the House during the speech.

Pratap Singh Bajwa surrounded the Punjab government

Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa attacked the Punjab government and said that on March 13, the police beat up an Indian Army colonel and his son from Patiala, which is indecent. We demand that the Punjab government give in writing to the High Court judge that the matter should be investigated by a sitting or retired judge.

Pratap Singh Bajwa further said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet have been sitting on the dharna of the farmers of Punjab. It is because of the farmers that the Aam Aadmi Party has got 92 seats in Punjab. The Punjab-Haryana border barricading was not done by the farmers but by the Haryana government.

Congress never used lathis on farmers: Bajwa

He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government got the farmers’ dharna lifted to please the industrialists. Bajwa said that Arvind Kejriwal wants to go to Rajya Sabha through Punjab. Kejriwal has not come to Punjab for Vipassana, he has come to Punjab to know how he won the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election and to go to Rajya Sabha.

Pratap Singh Bajwa said that during the Congress government in Punjab, lathis were never used on farmers. Congress also demands that the government should explain that it had promised to give Rs 1000 per month to one crore women of Punjab, three years have passed since the government was formed, so when will Rs 36000 be given to the women?
