Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria met Union Ministers in Delhi and discussed important issues related to Punjab and Chandigarh. He expressed concern over the increasing drug addiction in Punjab and Chandigarh and sought cooperation from the central government.
Gulabchand Kataria met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Labor and Youth Affairs Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia separately. During this, he said that the Center and the state will have to work together to increase surveillance against drug addiction, improve rehabilitation centers and make the youth aware.
Kataria said that drug addiction is destroying the breed of families, so it is necessary to put those who sell, consume and supply drugs behind bars.
To take development projects forward rapidly
Governor Gulabchand Kataria said that the main objective of these meetings was to take forward the projects related to the development of Punjab and Chandigarh rapidly and to get cooperation from the Center. These included improving road and rail connectivity, strengthening urban transport and other important infrastructure projects. Apart from this, discussions were also held on increasing employment for the youth, promoting tourism and sports sector.
Kataria also met Rajasthan government ministers Jogaram Patel and Jawahar Singh Bedam. An agreement was reached on better administrative system and sharing of successful schemes between the two states.
He held a crime meeting for the first time
After becoming the administrator of Chandigarh, Gulabchand Kataria held a crime meeting for the first time in the Police Headquarters Sector-9. During that time, he had clarified that the policemen who are getting recommendations for desired postings in police stations should focus on their work.
He had said, “If the work is good, there will be no need for recommendations. Recommendations are made by those who do not know how to work.” He had also said that those who sell drugs should be dealt with strictly.
