A significant case related to the death of Punjabi singer Rajveer Jawanda has now reached the High Court. Significantly, this case was brought to the Himachal Pradesh High Court through a public interest litigation filed by social worker and lawyer Navkiran Singh.
The petition primarily expresses concern over the growing problem of stray animals. The lawyer has appealed to the court to urge the government to take this issue seriously, as stray animals roaming the streets are causing accidents and loss of lives. He also raised several important questions regarding stray animals.
He questioned why concrete steps are not being taken to care for and manage these animals when the government is collecting taxes from the public in the name of ‘Cow Cess’. The petition also states that many innocent people are losing their lives due to the negligence of the administration.
It is noteworthy that on September 27th, while traveling to Shimla in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, Rajveer Jawanda, a resident of Ponan village in Jagraon, Ludhiana district, was seriously injured in a road accident.
