A case has come to light involving the disappearance of a 16-year-old teenager—one of four friends who had gone for a swim in the Sakki Nullah (canal) in Ajnala. The missing teenager has been identified as Amit Kumar (alias Amandeep), reportedly a ninth-grade student. Following the incident, an atmosphere of anxiety and grief prevails within the family. Meanwhile, the relatives have leveled serious allegations against the friends who accompanied the teenager and have demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
According to reports, Amit left home yesterday evening with three friends to go for a swim at the Sakki Nullah. When he failed to return home late into the night, his family’s anxiety grew. When the family contacted the friends who had gone with him, they initially gave conflicting accounts. Later, the friends stated that Amit had drowned in the canal waters.
The family alleges that several questions remain unanswered regarding the entire episode. They claim that the friends’ statements have been constantly shifting, leading them to suspect that this may not simply be a case of drowning. The family has urged the police administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire sequence of events to uncover the truth.
Upon receiving information about the incident, teams of divers began searching the Sakki Nullah for the teenager early this morning. According to the divers, a continuous search operation has been underway since morning; however, as of the time of writing, no trace of Amit had been found. Meanwhile, the police have also initiated an investigation into the matter. Police officer Baldev Raj stated that every aspect of the case is being scrutinized closely. The allegations leveled by the family are being taken seriously, and all individuals involved are being questioned.
He added that the actual cause of the incident would become clear only after the results of the divers’ search operation and the police investigation are available. Currently, police and administrative teams remain actively engaged in the search for the teenager.
