A shameful incident of theft has come to light on the route leading to the historic Gurdwara Sri Tahli Sahib, located within the Dinanagar Assembly constituency. Thieves uprooted and stole several solar lights—along with their poles—that had been installed on the path to the Gurdwara Sahib for the convenience of devotees. Following the incident, there is massive outrage among the local residents and devotees in the area.
According to reports, solar lights were installed along the stretch from Talwandi Road to the historic Gurdwara Sri Tahli Sahib with the safety and convenience of devotees in mind. These lights provided significant relief to devotees—including women and the elderly—who traveled to and from the Gurdwara Sahib during the early morning hours and late evenings. The lighting arrangement on this route had been established through the special efforts of local youth. Villagers lament that the thieves did not even spare the path leading to a religious shrine; under the cover of darkness, they uprooted and carried away several solar lights, poles and all. When people discovered in the morning that the lights installed on the route were missing, a wave of indignation swept across the entire locality.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police swung into action. Banarsi Das, the SHO of Dorangla Police Station, stated that an investigation into the matter has been initiated. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being scrutinized, and the culprits are expected to be identified and arrested shortly.
Meanwhile, local youth and villagers have demanded that the police administration take strict action against the perpetrators. They argue that when thieves have begun targeting even the amenities installed for the convenience of devotees on routes leading to religious sites, taking stringent action against such elements becomes absolutely imperative.
