Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chandigarh International Airport, which was closed since May 7 in view of tension on the India-Pakistan border after Operation Sindoor, is now operational again. The operation of all flights has been restored from 10:30 am on Monday.
The Airport Authority said that as before, 84 flights will operate daily from the airport, which will connect major cities of the country as well as international destinations like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The airport administration has appealed to the passengers to confirm the updated schedule with the concerned airline before their travel.
With this, Amritsar International Airport is now ready and open to operate all commercial/civilian, domestic and international flights from 10:18 am on 12.05.25.
The airport is located between the Air Force Station
Chandigarh Airport is very important from a strategic point of view. This airport is located between the 3 Base Repair Depot (Three BRD) of the Indian Air Force and the Air Force Station. This is the reason why this airport becomes extremely important from a strategic point of view in case of any military operation or national security.
Under Operation Sindoor, this airport was used for the logistics movement of the Air Force, especially for sending logistics and weapons to sensitive border areas like Leh-Ladakh.
Flights started for these cities
CEO Ajay Kumar Verma said that during this time the passengers definitely faced inconvenience, but this decision was taken in their security and national interest. Now that the situation is normal, commercial flights have been started again. Direct flights are available for cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Lucknow, Goa, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Patna, Jaipur, Indore, Leh and Ahmedabad.
Advice for passengers: The airport administration has appealed to the passengers to confirm the updated schedule with the concerned airline before their journey. Now that the military activity at the airbase has calmed down, once again Chandigarh Airport has opened for flights of common passengers, and the sky is buzzing with the speed of flights.
32 airports reopened
India on Monday said it has reopened 32 airports closed during the conflict with neighbouring Pakistan following a ceasefire over the weekend. The Airports Authority of India said in a statement that the 32 airports are now available for civilian aircraft operations with immediate effect.
