In Kasabad village, under the jurisdiction of Salem Tabri police station, a man was murdered and his body, stuffed in a sack, was dumped in a field along the Noorwala GT Road. The incident came to light around 2 PM today when a passerby noticed a blood-stained sack lying in the field. He then informed Advocate Manveer Singh Dhaliwal of Kasabad village, who in turn notified the Salem Tabri police station. Upon receiving the information, ACP North Kikar Singh Bhullar, Station House Officer Harshveer Singh Sandhu, Inspector Balbir Singh, and Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar, along with a large police force, immediately reached the spot. When they opened the sack, they found the body of a man with several deep wounds. The police have taken the body into custody and have begun an investigation.
Speaking at the scene, ACP North Kikar Singh Bhullar and SHO Harshveer Sandhu stated that the deceased could not be identified as no identification documents were found on him. They said that the exact cause of death would be determined only after the post-mortem report. Currently, the police are circulating a picture of the deceased in the surrounding areas to help with identification. The deceased is estimated to be around 35 years old, and a beedi (local cigarette) and plastic were recovered from his pockets, suggesting that he might have worked in a textile factory. The body had several wounds, including deep cuts on the chest, indicating that he was likely murdered with a sharp weapon. The police are currently working to identify the deceased. The SHO stated that the body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted on Thursday, after which further action will be taken.
