In Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, an audio recording has gone viral on social media, in which bribes are allegedly being demanded in an NDPS case—specifically for releasing the accused party and for handling official paperwork. The Police Department has now taken significant and strict action regarding the matter. The officers are accused of demanding a sum of ₹50,000.
The woman involved stated that the officers were demanding money in the names of their superiors. She alleged that ₹20,000 was demanded in the name of the Town Inspector (TI) of Purani Bhilai, while ₹2 lakh was demanded at the Cyber Police Station. SP Vijay Agrawal has suspended Sub-Inspector Tulsiram Sahu, posted at the Purani Bhilai Police Station, and Sub-Inspector Dev Lal Sahu, posted at the Khursipar Police Station.
Both officers have been attached to the Reserve Center in Durg. The responsibility for investigating this matter has been entrusted to the City Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Cantonment area. The CSP has been directed to submit an investigation report within three days. Action Taken Following Viral Audio
According to the police, an audio clip went viral on social media wherein money was allegedly being demanded from the accused party in connection with Case No. 288/2026, registered at the Purani Bhilai Police Station under the NDPS Act.
Based on the viral material, a preliminary inquiry suggested that the conduct of both officers appeared suspicious and contrary to departmental regulations; consequently, the decision to suspend them was taken.
Woman Alleges Demands for Bribes
Meanwhile, the woman who came forward in this case—identified as Jasbir—has leveled several serious allegations regarding the police’s handling of the matter. The woman claims that her mother and a young man were brought under the scope of police action without sufficient grounds.
According to the woman, her mother was summoned merely for questioning, whereas the young man who was detained was held at the police station for an extended period before finally being produced in court.
The woman further alleged that during the course of the police action, an initial sum of ₹5,000 was taken, followed by subsequent demands for additional amounts. She claims that a total of ₹50,000 was demanded in exchange for releasing the individuals. Additionally, extra money was also being demanded in the name of documentation procedures and paperwork.
